First off, HELLO FRIENDS!

Thank you so much for all your kind words and concern and well wishes after that last post. I truly appreciate it all and I hope never to have to repeat it! With that, I’m going to just get right back into the swing of things, because well, that’s the best way to go about it right?

And what better way than to jump back than with a spot of colour. The Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks were launched a few months ago with a mind-boggling array of over 100 lipstick colours in 6 different textures. I don’t have them all, naturally. I wasn’t important enough to be seeded nor offered to try, but they interested me for one simple reason – they were actually pretty affordable.

Well, I use the word “affordable” loosely, because it still is pricey at RM70 (US$17), just less so, compared to many new lipstick launches from all the major brands. I eventually scored 2 samples out of the whopping 120 shades available (I’m told that not all are available here yet – they’ll trickle in) in the Vice Lipstick range, that basically supersedes and revamps the whole Urban Decay lipstick lines.

They have been out a while by now, and I’m sure that many of you already have tried it and have views on it, so you know the drill – let me know what you think 😉

Quick update: Unexpected break seguing into a scheduled break

Hi everyone

My apologies for falling off the grid the past few days. I don’t usually feel the need to apologise for not updating the blog, but my disappearance was was a little more sudden, and a little more prolonged than I had earlier expected, so I felt a short explanation was necessary.

hospital

For most of last week, I had been tucked away in the hospital, due to an unexplained viral attack, that left me with a low white blood cell and platelet count and rashes all over my body, even on my face. This is one incidence when I have no tips for you except to get to a hospital, stat! 😛 I suppose this must be what a computer programme feels like, when they get a virus – weak and disoriented LOL! 😀 I’m discharged now, and am, for the most part, feeling fine, albeit a little tired still.

I wanted to bring back a segment I used to have here on MWS, where I tell you about new things that are launching or are available out there. I sometimes get around to using them long enough to share a view, but that often happens months down the road. Some of you I know, aren’t that interested in what I or anyone thinks, you just want to know what’s new, especially in the world of skincare.

So, I’m bringing this back, with the introduction of a new tier of premium, luxury skincare in French brand, L’Occitane.

l'occitane harmonie divine

The new L’Occitane Harmonie Divine range comprises at the moment, of just 2 products – the Serum Harmonie Divine and the Harmonie Divine Cream. It is also priced at a premium, and isn’t quite targeted at just anyone.

Achieve sweaty-sexy shine on skin with the Victoria Beckham x Estee Lauder Morning Aura

I happened to be in Singapore, when the Victoria Beckham x Estee Lauder collection was launched. It is a nice sized collection, not too large as to be overwhelming, and not too small as to be insignificant. There were some nice touches – the Modern Mercury highlighter was a big hit of course. It should be, it’s beautiful, both to look at, and on skin (albeit not on anyone too fair – it shows up a little warm on my skintone) The eyeshadow palette drew a lot of attention, because in the big scheme of things, it was the most “worth it” to buy – 6 colours for 1 rather large price.

Yet, my eye was drawn to a product that wasn’t being put at the front and centre of the collection. A tall, beautiful, fluted gold cylinder, that stood at the back, a little retiring, almost a little shy.

I didn’t purchase anything back then, but when I got home, the very item I coveted from the range dropped on my desk, and I picked it up with a squeal of delight. Ok, no squealing. I don’t squeal. I might have run around in little circles, pumping my fists with glee instead LOL! 😀

The item I coveted, and had my eye on was the Victoria Beckham x Estee Lauder Morning Aura – an illuminating cream, primer thing, that basically serves little function, except to, as Victoria Beckham says, give your skin a fresh morning glow.

I took it for a spin for a few days, but couldn’t help that niggling feeling at the back of my mind that there was something terribly familiar about it. Happily, I worked out what it was, and oh hey, if you miss it, I might be able to share a “dupe” with you! 😉

Have a London Lark and cavort through London-town with Jo Malone Basil & Neroli Cologne

When the announcement of the new Jo Malone Basil & Neroli Cologne was first made, I had a little laugh over it. It was about the time that I had just started my little basil growing experiment (still going strong, thank you for asking!) and I was big on everything basil. A perfume in the scent was perfect to round it all up!

Interestingly, the brand launched this with the rather vague descriptive phrase “A London Lark”, intending to depict a fashionably fun London. A ‘lark’ as I’m sure you realise is rather like a jaunt or a frolic or caper – all words that have fallen out of use in daily English, rather unfortunately. I highly doubt they meant to refer to a little brown bird LOL! 😛

The launch did bring to my mind a little hint of Camden Town – a little trippy and a little eccentric. For me, London is one of 3 things – loutish, proper or eccentric. Basil & Neroli kind of falls into the last category 😛

The Chanel Le Rouge Collection for Fall 2016 will have you seeing red. Literally.

The Chanel Le Rouge Collection No. 1 which was released as the Chanel Fall 2016 makeup collection, has been around a while. I got these late hence this rather late post, and while I realise that some of the pieces may have sold out, I also later learned that some are permanent. So, as I’d already done my photos, indulge me.

chanel le rouge collection no. 1 fall 2016

Part of the reason I chose to pay a little more attention to the Chanel Fall 2016 collection, and also to some upcoming collections, is because Chanel has got a new creative director in the form of Lucia Pica, and I thought this first collection of her is quite bold. Her upcoming collections, which I’ve had a peep at are also quite refreshing – interesting yet classic.

I’d always looked upon Chanel as the classic brand, sticking to safe and tried and true colours and designs. So, I was quite surprised to see a warm autumnal eyeshadow palette highlighted by a deep burgundy red shadow in there. It surprised me. Chanel isn’t exactly edgy, you would agree.

The Chanel Le Rouge Collection No. 1 is a makeup collection centered around one colour – RED. There are a host of different products available, of which I’ll only show you those pictured here. There are others, and the Illusion d’Ombre shadows come highly raved. I know you’re wondering how that eyeshadow palette fares – I did too LOL! 😀
