You know the funny thing about fragrances? They can evoke different responses in different people (hence my policy to never “review” a fragrance – how will I know if you’d like it?!) but they can also work differently on different people.

One such fragrance for me, is this Caudalie Rose de Vigne Eau Fraiche fragrance, which I’ve been sitting on since I received it last year. Oops! My bad!

The primary reason was because, as easy on the nose as this fresh rose scent is (and as affordable it is on the pocket) I’m not crazy about wearing rose-scented perfumes. They tend to make my head feel heavy, instead of light, and I often feel overwhelmed – like I’m standing in the middle of a blooming field of roses. Not a bad thing, but heady.

But that was until I figured out how I liked best to use this perfume!

If there’s one skincare product that I’m loyal to, it’s sunscreen. When I find one that works, I stick with i come hell or high water. For richer or poorer… my HG sunscreen will eventually send me to the poorhouse I swear LOL!

But due to mounting requests, I embarked on a mission to find an alternate, more affordable sunscreen that I might like. I do have a preference for Asian brand sunscreens, for the simple reason that they work, and for some reason, the formula feels more elegant than most Western brands.

One of my favourites, before it was discontinued was the Hada Labo UV Whitening Emulsion sunscreen. So, when I went looking for a budget sunscreen option, one of my first stops was Hada Labo and I picked up the Hada Labo Koi-Gokujyun Perfect UV Gel SPF50+ PA++++

Long story short, I was pleasantly surprised to quite like this

Blow Dryer: Nume Signature Dryer
Flat Iron: Solia Ceramic Flat Iron

I blow dried using high heat and high speed. I flat Ironed on 370 degrees. 2 passes per section.

You know, I kind of hate it when a product is very popular with many people, but doesn’t sit well with me. It often makes me wonder what’s wrong with me. Am I too picky? Is my skin weird? What is WRONG?!

And then I realise that well, nothing is. Quite often, it comes down to differing preferences, or just weird skin!

Which brings me to the By Terry Ombre Blackstar cream eyeshadow sticks. You should know by now that I’ve got a thing for cream eyeshadow sticks. They’re so incredibly portable and easy to use, with lovely shimmer and texture, that I wonder why I don’t use these and only these for eyeshadow all day, everyday!

And then I realise why – not everyone gets it right. I’ve tried some that have gotten it horribly wrong, and I have my favourites (Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown, if you’re wondering – I have multiples from both brands!) But the By Terry Ombre Blackstar pens come highly rated. I’d be hard-pressed to find someone out there who doesn’t like these, and I was pressed to try this. “Try it!” the sirens cooed “You will love it! It’s smooth, it’s creamy, it’s got beautiful colour!”

So I tried it. And you know what sirens do in the fables? They lure you to the rocks so you crash and burn. Ah yep, that was me, crashing and burning while the sirens cackled overhead

When one of my favourite lipsticks got discontinued, I wept a little tear. The Dior Serum de Rouge was one of my favourite lipsticks ever, despite their hefty pricetag and rather boring colour selection. I had, and went through quite a few, which would have landed me in the poorhouse, but I loved it and Mom loved it. And then they only went and discontinued it. Sigh…

I don’t know about you, but I’m a huge HUGE fan of Uniqlo. Sure, I’ve had people tell me that their clothes aren’t fashion forward, too simple and in some cases, very aunty-looking. To all that I say “Pfbfttt!” I’m not fashion forward, I like simple and why, I’m in aunty-category! Gone are the days when young kids will call me “Jie Jie PB”, now it’s “Aunty PB” and I’ve (thankfully) come to terms with it HAHA!

But this obsession of mine with Uniqlo means that I physically avoid the stores, because I’d always walk out with something, and now that they have online shopping, that’s even more dangerous. I have to physically stop myself from going to the online store! That said, I’ve also picked up some excellent deals online, so let’s just say that I don’t hold back that often. Hah!

What I really wanted to share with you however, is not my obsession with Uniqlo, but with the Uniqlo Airism range. (NB: I’m not sponsored, although I won’t say no to Uniqlo showering me with Airism clothing in all forms, thank you LOL) The Airism range is what I think was formerly known as Dry Lux, something I’d shared with you many years ago, and it is the anti-thesis to the famed and popular Heattech range which is targeted at winter-wear. But for those of us living where the sun beats down relentlessly on us for practically 365 days of the year (366 this year!) Airism is the way to go. In fact, if you’re suffocating in this heat, but are loathe to parade in the altogether, then get thee to a Uniqlo store stat! It’s the next best thing to going naked
