It took 15 years, but the eponymous Gabrielle Chanel perfume is here

Early in 2017, I came across the rumblings of a new IT bag from the luxury designer house of Chanel. It is called the Gabrielle bag and if I’m to be perfectly honest, I’m a little on the fence about it. Still, as they say, don’t knock it till you’ve tried or seen it, so I won’t.

But a month or two back, I was told that there would be a new fragrance launch by Chanel this year, named, you guessed it, Gabrielle. Verily, this is the year of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, and this brand new perfume is the first from Chanel in 15 years!

Most of us are familiar with the name Coco Chanel, yet often we forget that it wasn’t her real name. Her name was Gabrielle, and the House of Chanel has decided that it’s time to remind us of this. If you look into the life of Coco Chanel, she was a woman ahead of her time. A bit of a rebel, an entrepreneur, never married, and if the stories are true, popularized sunbathing and tanning. Tsk, lady, you set up generations of women for wrinkly, leather textured skin 😛

She also boasts a rather murky war past, if the stories are to be believed, and that is a little unsettling at this point in time. But I can understand why the company holds on to her history. There are many stories to tell, and one of it, is this new Gabrielle Chanel perfume that is only just made available in stores, and is Chanel’s very first new fragrance in 15 years!

Your Say: Have you discovered a favourite fragrance from a fragrance sample?

When it comes to fragrances, unlike with skincare, I welcome samples with open arms. For me, I’m usually quite quick to decide and know if a scent works for me the minute I smell it. But often, scents develop on your skin as the day goes on, and sometimes, you may end up loving a scent you may not have thought suited you the first time. A little sample vial or spray helps me decide.

As much as I enjoy using Jo Malone scents, finding one to really fit my style has eluded me. This was borne out during the event we had, when I was asked which my favourite scents were and I couldn’t quite pinpoint which. I’ve played with their new scents, their old scents and their limited edition scents. But there’s always something missing. That certain je ne sais quoi.

Well, until now!

Recently, I was clearing out my stuff, when I decided to reorganize my little fragrance collection, so I had them within easy reach. I discovered I had a little perfume sample stash I’d forgotten about, and had a bit of fun playing around with the different perfumes, trying new scents. I then dug out my old set of Jo Malone sampler set of colognes that I bought quite a few years ago and discovered that one of them sat so well with me, I started using it almost daily!

Bust stress and fight body fatigue with the new REN Skincare Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Anti-Fatigue range

I don’t think it’s a secret that I am always a little partial towards REN Skincare. I’d used much of their products since they first became available in Malaysia in 2009 till now. I do like their skincare, and I am just as partial towards their body care products. But there hasn’t been much that’s new to excite me in recent times. That is, until I caught news that there was a new range of body care in eye-catching bright turquoise and containing Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium as its key ingredients.

Hmm… hello! I’d been waiting for their availability here in Malaysia for months!

REN Skincare labels the Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium range as “Anti-fatigue” which puzzled me for a while. Apparently, this is down to the inclusion of Magnesium, a mineral that I don’t see used very much in cosmetics (unless of course, I’m just not paying much attention). Magnesium is a mineral that supports the natural functions of the body and boosts cell energy, combats fatigue and has anti-inflammatory properties. Apparently, it can be easily absorbed through skin, and helps ease your body of stress and fatigue. Some claim that using this range even helps them sleep better. Hmm… really? Let this insomniac try it and see! 😛

Hej! Will this Classic Gaston Luga Backpack suit your lifestyle as it does mine?

I have, what seems like a lifetime choice of bags in my bag closet, and yet, the one style I’ve been gravitating towards in recent times, is the backpack. I’d sclep around in a casual outfit, toting my things in one of two backpacks I own. So, when Gaston Luga said “Hej!” all the way from Stockholm, Sweden and asked if I might like to try out their new range of backpacks, I said “Tack sÃ¥ mycket! (“Thank you very much!” in Swedish – No I don’t speak Swedish. My limit of Swedish ends at “Ikea” LOL)

Gaston Luga is a new Swedish brand specialising in backpacks with canvas and leather bodies. The minimalistic designs sit well with the current trend of minimalism and the clean, simple lines of Scandinavian design. They have a few different ranges, but I picked one in the classic range, in the very practical Black on Black colour – black leather accessories on black canvas.

There is a reason I picked this design, which I’ll tell you about, and I’ll also show you what fits in my Gaston Luga Classic Backpack, and if you’re interested in it, I also have a discount code! 😀

Your Say: Have you seen your dentist recently? Do you use an interdental brush?

Original Full Post is found here: Your Say: Have you seen your dentist recently? Do you use an interdental brush?

I went to see my dentist last week, and it was then I realised that I hadn’t been for over 2 years. 2 years! I used to be fairly regular before this, doing the twice-yearly check-ups as recommended, for oral health. But a lot happened in the past 2 years, and truth to tell, going to the dentist just didn’t feature on my schedule.

The only reason I thought of going, was because my teeth felt weird, which is reason enough! Fortunately, none of my teeth were going to fall out, and my teeth were professionally cleaned, as they should have been months ago!

So, my PSA today, is to tell you that if you have not seen your dentist for teeth cleaning and a check up recently, DO IT! Don’t wait! Make your appointment NOW!

I also wanted to share with you my latest dental discovery – interdental brushes!

While I was given a clean bill of dental health, my dentist did identify some potential issues that could arise in the future. So, he recommended that I use an interdental brush, instead of dental floss for healthier teeth and gums. We all know we should floss, but I don’t know about you, I’m a lazy bum when it comes to flossing. Oops 😛

So, after my appointment, I ran off to the nearest pharmacy and picked up a pack of interdental brushes, and then went home to do a little research on this little gadget that I was unfamiliar with 🙂

The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil makes you want to dive right in!

One of the more fascinating releases from The Body Shop that I watched with some interest a few years ago, was this product – The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil. The Oils of Life is a category unto its own with more than just a facial oil, which may explain the rather long product name.

There are one or two other products in the Oils of Life range, but my interest laid primarily in the facial oil. I am after all, a big fan of facial oil, and this one was one of the more easily accessible, and I dare say, one of the more affordable ones. I had to see how it fared.

Well, to pre-empt you, let me just say that if you have oily or even combination skin, this is not the facial oil for you. But if you have dry skin, or live where the weather will turn very cold and dry, then you (and your wallet) will enjoy this one! 🙂
