Last year, I was very enamoured by a natural brand of skincare – Leahlani. I tried the famed Leahlani Mermaid Mask which I enjoyed using and will consider repurchasing. I also tried the other famed product, Siren Serum which I found wanting. Along the way, I had also acquired the Leahlani Champagne Serum and Aloha Ambrosia, which I’d been using off and on for a few months.

There was a lot to like about Leahlani. The products are natural, and are handmade in Hawaii. It was a lovely little indie brand with a beautiful aesthetic, intriguing products, and their products smell and feel divine. They were a pleasure to use.

Sometimes, I don’t know if I’m just being terribly picky, or if I’m a little cynical, but I tried so hard to like the Leahlani Champagne Serum and Aloha Ambrosia, but found one them coming up short – which was it?

Jo Malone releases a brand new scent each year (sometimes, a few times a year) and last year’s autumnal scent was a big hit for me! This year, when I saw that the new scent is the Jo Malone Honeysuckle & Davana cologne, my heart fell a little.

Honeysuckle, as the name implies, is very sweet in scent. If there’s one type of scent that I abhor, it is that of a sticky, sweet, floral. Not for me!

But I was curious as to what “Davana” was. I’d never heard of it, so I looked it up. Davana, as it turns out, is an aromatic herb (Artemisia Pallens), cultivated to harvest its oil, which is used as essential oil then used in perfumes. It is supposed to smell sweet and fruity, but smells different on different people. So, now you know what Davana is!

But more interestingly, how does the Jo Malone Honeysuckle & Davana cologne smell?

There was a little scare among Laura Mercier fans here in Malaysia, that the brand was pulling out of the country. Well, take heart, they aren’t! It was just a change in administration, and they are here to stay. And we know that Laura Mercier is known for their base makeup – their Flawless Base, as they call it. So what better way to join the trend of high coverage, long-wearing foundation bases, than with the Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation.

The Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation was launched about a year ago, and you may notice the subtle change in packaging. In fact, Laura Mercier has since been rebranding themselves, and they now sport a brand new logo, with a brand new font. You will be seeing it roll out in future releases, and their bright, spanking-new stores will also sport it. More modern, more with the times.

But I had to know – were they still as strong in their base products as I remember them to be?

I’m a self-confessed Uniqlo addict. I’m such an addict that my wardrobe is an altar to Uniqlo past season designs, for I usually only ever buy their stuff on sale LOL! We talked once about whether it was aunty or cool, and hey, I don’t honestly care! But I’d only recently discovered the Uniqlo Wiress Bra, and am wondering why I never made the plunge earlier.

I’ve been a big fan of the Uniqlo Bra-top since the first time I tried it. I now own so many, and travel exclusively in them. It wasn’t until my sister-in-law mentioned to me that Uniqlo Wireless Bra was just like the bra-top, only a bra, that I deigned to take a closer look.

The reason I was hesitant to try their bras was because it was wireless – from past experience, wireless bras tended to not offer sufficient support, even for non-ample boobs. The second reason was because I’d tried one of their panties, and found the quality to be lacking. I’d stayed away from their lingerie since.

But one day, I spotted the Wireless Bra on sale (naturally!) and picked one up. I haven’t looked back since!

Sometimes, you come across something new that not only jolts you out of a state of torpor, but worms its way into your heart. Nevermind that it may be impractical or a mess. Some things cannot be explained. This is how I felt about the brand new Chanel Rouge Allure Liquid Powder.

When these dropped into my lap, I cast a wary eye over them. They looked familiar, but I couldn’t quite place my finger on it. But what I will say is that these Chanel Rouge Allure Liquid Powder lip products are a little strange.

When I shared with you my 6 pillars of skincare, I received a few questions – what about masks? What about facial scrubs? Well, the latter is a whole subject for another day, but I wanted to share some thoughts about facial masks.

By way of experiment, a while ago, I undertook a daily masking routine. For about 30 days or more, I would do a facial mask every evening. I used a variety – sheet masks, peel masks, hydration masks, clay masks, sleeping masks etc.

Along the way, I learnt a few things – the principal take away of which is this – I have too many masks! LOL But I learnt a few other things too that I thought I’d share
