Some days, you trot out your Diptyque and Jo Malone scented candles. On other days, you luxuriate in a beautiful scented room, without having to sell an organ or a limb LOL! I can safely say that one of the better locally made, affordable soy scented candles I’ve encountered to date is by Lilin + Co. I’d told you about them before this so you can have a little read.

I recently met the owner at a local bazaar, where she (I believe) took a chance to call out to me, and we had a nice short chat. It’s always nice putting faces to names in email! They do sell at the artisanal bazaars around the Klang Valley like Riuh, so keep a lookout for them, if you go there. You can have a sniff at the candles, so you know what to expect.

I’m not a very neat person. I don’t have a creative eye when it comes to interior decoration or design so I live in what is a fairly servicable, simple environment that isn’t Instagram or Pinterest-friendly. But I confess to having a bit of a bad habit – I’m prone to clutter and hoarding.

Perhaps it is the environment in which I’ve grown up. My parents and grandmothers rarely threw anything away unless it was completely broken down, broken or just unusable. Even then, it would be cannibalized for useable parts, before finally conceding defeat.

Perhaps also due to their life and times they grew up in, they’ve usually found it hard to say no to freebies. If there is an offer to buy 3 packs of toothpaste to get a free plate, you bet we’d end up getting that free plate LOL! Sometimes, in different designs. Our dining crockery is rarely a perfectly matched set. It is usually a hotch-potch of different free plates and bowls accumulated over the years. And never thrown away.

For some reason, these free stuff can be very hardy! LOL! I know some of you can relate

Perhaps it’s just me – a hoarder

I still have random freebies, sitting alongside free storage containers or drinking bottles, notebooks, pens etc… and I realised one day that was the key problem to my clutter.

I was casting about for something to write about, and took a dip into my archives. Another subject had come to mind, and I had written a piece about it. But when I looked at the timing and the date, I realised that there was something else I should be writing about – Gratitude.

How easy it was for me to forget my little annual ritual!

It has been a little tradition of mine to adopt the American holiday of Thanksgiving which comes around towards the end of November each year. We after all, adopt so much else, another holiday wouldn’t hurt!

We don’t have a similar celebration here, but I often think we should, if only to remind ourselves that we have something to be thankful about. Getting your hands on that latest sold-out eyeshadow palette does not quite count

So, as you read this, I want you pause for just a few minutes in your day, and think of 3 things you’re thankful for. If you’re feeling crappy, it might put your problems in perspective

The Inkey List is a brand new budget skincare brand on the block. When I shared how impressed I was with their Turmeric cream moisturiser, I also told you that I plan to have a very big overview post to come. I still plan to do so. But I also wanted to tell you about The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid, because I felt it noteworthy.

By now, most of us will be familiar with this skincare ingredient. But if you aren’t, hyaluronic acid is an ingredient which helps bind and hold moisture, which in skincare products, help hydrate and plump up the skin. Many skincare products these days contain this ingredient.

I am very big on maintaining skin hydration, so for me, a lotion or serum with hyaluronic acid is a must in my skincare routine. I’ve also shared my tip on how best to use a hyaluronic acid serum effectively.
